Community Classroom & Internet Information

Community Classroom
Parent/Caregiver Information

Support from teachers in a Community Classroom is a service provided by the Southern Health School. To make sure the Community Classroom space is a safe and pleasant learning environment for all, we require a number of conditions to be met by you and your child.

  1. All sessions and visits to SHS Community Classrooms are by appointment.  If circumstances change and your child is no longer able to attend, please notify the teacher before the planned session.
  2. Arrangements for drop off and pick up of your child need to be agreed between you and the teacher prior to the first Community Classroom based teaching session. While your child is  travelling to and from SHS Community Classroom they are your responsibility. Please collect your child promptly at the end of each session.
  3. Your child is required to bring all required books and equipment, be prepared for the lesson, and be dressed appropriately for school.
  4. Arrangements for breaks from learning will be arranged with the teacher.
  5. If your child’s behaviour or health condition gives cause for concern the teacher will contact you immediately. If the situation does not improve the teacher will make arrangements with you to collect your child.
  6. While we endeavour to offer the Community Classroom service, various factors may affect its continuation. If this should occur other options will be discussed with you.

If these conditions are not met, the community classroom service may be withdrawn.

Responsible Use Agreement – Student

The Southern Health School (SHS) promotes safe and responsible use of the internet and Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) through a Digital Citizenship model. This Responsible Use Agreement outlines the expectations for all students, staff, and volunteers.

By agreeing to this declaration, you commit to being a good digital citizen by following these guidelines:

  • Positive Communication: You will always use ICTs to communicate with others in polite, positive, and respectful ways.
  • Critical Thinking: You will think carefully about whether information seen online is true and will check to make sure it is genuine or factual before using it.
  • Honest and Fair Use: You will be honest and fair in all online actions, ensuring they are lawful and do not break the rules of the websites you use.
  • Respect Privacy: You will respect people’s privacy online and be careful when using full names, birthdays, addresses, and photos of yourself and others.
  • Seek Help: You understand that problems may arise when using technology (such as unkindness online or technical failure), and you will seek help from school staff when needed.
  • Follow Guidelines: You understand these guidelines apply when using any information technology while at the Southern Regional Health School or during any school activity, including personally owned devices.

Consequences of Breach
You understand that if you breach this Responsible Use Agreement, you may lose access to school ICT services, including the use of the internet, on school-owned or any personally owned device used at school.
