Based across the Te Waipounamu/South Island, Te Kura Whaiora ki te Tonga/Southern Health School ensures accessibility for learners in the region. Each site is carefully designed to provide a nurturing and adaptable learning environment, with education tailored to meet individual health needs.
Te Kura Whaiora ki te Tonga/The Southern Health School is dedicated to supporting ākonga on their journey to health by providing personalised education, fostering confidence, and enabling successful transitions back into the wider world alongside their whānau, health teams, and schools.
Teachers at Te Kura Whaiora ki te Tonga/The Southern Health School work with ākonga, their families and their schools, to provide an adapted programme that supports ākonga to learn during their illness and recovery. We also help ākonga to return to full-time education at their school when they are able.
