It has been a vibrant first term in Manu Iti, our new classroom at the Climate Action Campus Ranga Taiao! Located on the former Avonside Girls’ High site, this space helps us provide essential equity of access for Māori and Pacific learners on the East side of Ōtautahi Christchurch.
Ākonga have loved connecting with te taiao (the environment), from visiting resident chickens and petting Monday the lamb, to watching the new sensory garden develop outside our classroom window. As winter gave way to blossoms and sunshine, Manu Iti has provided an āhuru mōwai (sheltered haven) for our students’ hauora (wellbeing) as they engage with their learning.
