Te Kura Whaiora ki Te Tonga/Southern Health School is seeking a compassionate, adaptable, and skilled kaiako/teacher to join our dedicated team based in Christchurch Start date is negotiable; the fixed end date is 8 December 2026.
About us
Southern Health school supports ākonga to seek health and wellbeing through continuous education. We work alongside whānau, primary schools, secondary schools, and medical professionals to ensure continuity of learning during periods of significant illness, facilitating successful transitions back to regular schooling.
About the role
This fixed-term, full-time position supports vulnerable ākonga in Years 1–13 whose emotional, mental, or physical health needs temporarily prevent them from attending their school of enrolment.
The role contributes to the school’s Flexible Learning Access Project, supporting students with complex health needs who require highly adaptable and responsive educational delivery across multiple settings and varying attendance patterns.
You will plan, design, and deliver personalised, flexible learning programmes aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum. Teaching occurs across a range of settings including student homes, community spaces, and health facilities throughout the Christchurch catchment.

Requirements

Current full New Zealand teacher registration and practising certificate.

Current full clean NZ driver licence (regular travel is required).

Police vetting clearance.
