Te Kura Whaiora ki Te Tonga / Southern Health School is seeking a compassionate, adaptable, and skilled kaiako / teacher to join our dedicated team based in Rolleston.
About us
Southern Health school supports ākonga to seek health and wellbeing through continuous education. We work alongside whānau, primary schools, secondary schools, and medical professionals to ensure continuity of learning during periods of significant illness, facilitating successful transitions back to regular schooling.
About the role
This full-time permanent position supports vulnerable ākonga in Years 1–13 whose emotional, mental, or physical health needs temporarily prevent them from attending their regional school.
You will plan, design, and deliver personalised, highly flexible individualised learning programmes aligned directly to the New Zealand Curriculum. This teaching occurs across a range of settings including student homes, community spaces, and regional health facilities. This is a highly rewarding role where education, student wellbeing, and transition planning are central to candidate success.

Confidence supporting diverse students with complex wellbeing or medical needs.

Strong professional judgement and exceptional organisational skills.

Experience teaching in multi-agency environments is a distinct advantage.
Requirements

Current full New Zealand teacher registration and practising certificate.

Current full clean NZ driver licence (regular travel is required).

Police vetting clearance.
